Apple has moved iPhone Duo into its next launch stage. In an update published on October 15, 2026, the company confirmed that pre-orders begin on October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. That is 5 p.m. in Pakistan. The phone’s advertised availability begins October 23 in its announced launch markets.
For Pakistani buyers, this is a useful milestone, but it is not confirmation of an official local release. Before paying for an imported foldable iPhone, separate three questions: what Apple has announced, what your seller can actually deliver, and what is required to use and support that particular device in Pakistan.
Pre-order opening is not a delivery promise
At the time of this morning’s update on October 16, the stated pre-order opening was still ahead. Apple’s earlier Get Ready process allowed eligible shoppers to prepare their choices before checkout opened. Preparing a shopping bag should not be confused with receiving an accepted order or a guaranteed delivery date.
If you are ordering through someone overseas, ask for the final order confirmation and its delivery estimate. If a Pakistani seller is taking bookings, request a separate local delivery commitment. An overseas release date does not include the time needed to obtain and deliver your individual unit.
The official US prices provide a reference
Apple’s US buying page lists iPhone Duo at $1,999 for 256GB, $2,199 for 512GB, $2,599 for 1TB and $3,199 for 2TB under its option to connect to a carrier later. These are US dollar listings, not Pakistan retail quotations.
Do not calculate a Pakistani selling price by converting the base amount alone. Ask the seller for the final payable total and a clear statement of what is included. If any charge remains an estimate, it should be labelled accordingly.
Compare matching storage versions. A headline advertising the entry price cannot tell you what a higher-capacity configuration will cost or when it can be supplied.
What makes Duo different?
Apple’s technical specifications list a 7.6-inch folding inner OLED display and a 5.4-inch outer OLED display. The available finishes are Night Sky and Star White, with storage ranging from 256GB to 2TB. The specifications identify Touch ID, while Apple’s product information confirms A20 Pro and a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system.
The main buying question is whether the larger working area improves your daily tasks. Reading documents, reviewing product photographs or viewing more content may make the format useful. Those are potential uses, not claims that we have tested the phone or measured a productivity gain.
Before choosing it over a conventional phone, consider how often you would open the inner screen. If most of your use is quick calls and messages, the extra expense deserves careful thought.
Check eSIM and carrier lock separately
Apple’s US specifications describe iPhone Duo as an eSIM device without physical SIM support. An overseas purchase therefore needs a compatible service arrangement; you cannot assume that moving your existing plastic SIM will complete the setup.
Contact your Pakistani operator with the exact model and ask about eSIM activation for your number. Also verify carrier-lock status. Apple Support says an unlocked iPhone shows “No SIM restrictions” beside Carrier Lock in Settings, General, About.
These checks answer different questions. eSIM support concerns activation technology, while a carrier lock concerns which networks the handset can use. A seller saying only “eSIM supported” has not answered whether an imported phone is unlocked. Ask for both details before committing.
PTA status needs evidence for the actual handset
This research did not verify an official iPhone Duo tax amount for either passport or CNIC registration. Consequently, no estimated figure is being presented here as an official PTA charge. A social-media chart or a seller’s screenshot is not enough to establish a model-specific official amount.
For device status, Zong’s published guidance directs customers to obtain the IMEI and send it by SMS to 8484. It also links to the PTA registration portal. Use official channels for the actual device rather than relying only on a generic product description.
Ask the seller to state whether registration is included and to document any outstanding requirement. Carrier unlocking and PTA registration should not be treated as interchangeable assurances. Resolve both before considering the phone ready for your intended local use.
Pakistan availability remains a separate question
The Mercantile homepage reviewed for this update did not list iPhone Duo, and the searches conducted did not establish a confirmed local distributor price or launch date. This is a limitation of what was verified, not proof that no shop will import the phone.
Older Pakistan coverage about the iPhone 18 Pro series cannot establish Duo availability. In particular, a promotion for another model does not automatically extend its warranty, protection plan or financing terms to this device.
For any advance order, obtain the exact configuration, condition, source market, expected arrival and cancellation terms in writing. Avoid paying against an unclear promise such as “first shipment” without an explanation of what happens if delivery is delayed.
Plan for ownership beyond the first week
Ask who will handle a fault and where the phone would need to go for service. Request the written warranty terms for the exact product, including what happens if damage involves the folding display or hinge. Do not assume an overseas protection plan can be used locally on identical terms.
Accessories deserve a separate check too. Confirm that a case is made for Duo and that any advertised charger or mounting accessory is compatible with the specific use you expect. Similar branding does not make every accessory suitable for every iPhone.
If your current phone is essential for work, keep a practical backup plan during the changeover. Check that calls, authentication apps and important business information work on the replacement before giving up access to the old device.
Who should buy now and who should wait?
An early order may suit someone who understands the cost, has a verified supply route and specifically wants the folding display. It is less suitable when the final local price, registration position or repair arrangements remain unresolved.
Waiting for clearer Pakistan terms and broader independent testing is also a valid choice. A pre-order deadline is not a requirement to upgrade.
The strongest decision is based on a complete offer: the right configuration, a documented delivery date, usable mobile service and support you understand. iPhone Duo’s pre-order opening makes the product more concrete, but careful local verification is still what turns an exciting announcement into a sensible purchase.
